Leila Fazlicic’s story is an empowering one. She began her nursing career during the war in Bosnia. She worked in an improvised hospital in the Eastern part of Mostar, a war-torn city in Bosnia. She developed an interest in healing and treating pain management while nursing severely wounded patients. This led to earning a Physical Therapy Degree from the University of Sarajevo, Department of Physical Therapy. Her goal was to learn as much as possible to help patients achieve pain free movement and live their life to the fullest.
Upon moving to the United States she worked in various medical clinics while reviewing academic medical programs. Her focus on healing and pain management led her to study acupuncture. She applied to one of the oldest colleges offering Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Midwest College Of Oriental Medicine Chicago Campus. Criteria for application included academic English and a 4-year college degree. Fortunately, Lejla speaks Bosnian, Spanish, Croatian, Serbian, and English and graduated in the top of her class.
Continuing her studies, she has become a National Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist, which uses auricular acupuncture to
relieve stress, address addictions, and improve overall health. She maintains professional membership with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). To further compliment her goal of uniting Eastern Medicine with Western, she has added Acupuncture Digital Exams to her service. Using the AcuGraph Digital Miridian Imaging system she is able to provide her patients with a printed chart of their acupuncture meridians.
Continuing her love of sharing information related to acupuncture and healing, Leila has published articles on acupuncture. Her latest book Stress is a Silent Killer is available for download.
